About Joy

Hi, I’m Joy Donley, producer and director of 100 Percent Human Theatre, formerly known as Front Porch Theatre. I’ve been theatre-making for over 30 years, first as a professional actor and then as a professional director since 2002. I’ve put up shows at the MN Fringe Festival (and even in my own backyard!) and have independently contracted with other professional theatre companies, colleges, high schools, churches and community theatres.

My approach to producing theatre is to engage audiences beyond simply seeing a show. I want them to actively engage with what they've just seen, and connect that with their head, heart, hands and feet.

The Tin Woman

The Tin Woman play is a comedic drama about a young woman who receives a heart transplant, but instead of relishing life after her surgery, Joy enters a downward spiral. Meanwhile, Alice and Hank mourn the loss of their son, Jack, whose heart was used to save Joy. At a friend’s urging, Joy tracks down Jack’s family to find closure and a tempestuous meeting ensues, resulting in a roller coaster of tears, laughter, letting go and finding new life.

The Tin Woman was written by Sean Grennan and was performed in April, 2025 at the Historic Mounds Theatre in St Paul, MN.
